In the name of vanity

It’s always astounding what people are prepared to do in the name of vanity. Somehow the idea of injecting yourself with a substance – a poison – that works by temporarily paralysing muscles has always seemed very suspect However, thousands decided Botox would make their lives so much more complete even if made them look permanently surprised.

Now it appears that Botox might not be the risk-free answer. From the USA comes news that 16 fatalities related to injecting Botox or similar chemicals have been recorded, resulting from the substance spreading to lungs and respiratory systems. It’s unlikely to put many people off because those who resort to this are either actors or too vain to use any common sense.

And all that is without the fact that people who use Botox look like a creation of Dr Frankenstein.
